Belly binding is a cherished ritual practiced by Malaysian and Indonesian women after childbirth, designed to help restore the body’s natural shape and support recovery. While your body naturally heals, belly binding can significantly accelerate this process, particularly for those who may take longer to recover.

After pregnancy, abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) often separate, leading to a need for extra support. Belly binding can help realign your hips and internal organs, bringing you closer to your pre-pregnancy shape—often achieving up to 50% of that goal.

In recent years, womb warming treatment has been gaining a lot of popularity amongst the new mothers.  Pat's massage treatment incorporates the womb warming massage which is highly beneficial for my clients. In today's fast-paced world, womb warming treatments have become increasingly popular among modern mothers, realising the importance of maintaining a healthy reproductive system. A "cold womb" can accelerate the aging process, making it essential to prioritize warmth and care for this vital organ.

Often referred to as a woman's "second heart," the uterus is crucial for childbirth and hormone regulation. Many women nowadays experience symptoms such as cold hands and feet, irregular periods, and menstrual discomfort—all signs of a "cold womb." A cold womb may cause the body to store excess fat in the lower abdomen as a protective measure, potentially impacting fertility.

Worn for just 8 hours a day, belly binding also promotes better posture, an essential benefit for new moms, especially while breastfeeding.

Key Points:

  • Timing: Begin belly binding after your lochia (post-birth discharge) has cleared—typically within 2 to 4 weeks post-delivery. For moms who deliver vaginally, belly binding can start after 2 weeks and for C-section birth, it's recommended 8 weeks after. It is best to consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

  • Duration: Ideal use is for 10 consecutive days, but flexibility allows you to complete these sessions within 15 days.
